When did people first realize the Sun is a star?
In 450 B.C. Anaxagoras of Athens was the first person we know of to suggest this, but it couldn't be proven until the mid 1800s.
Even then, people had no idea how the Sun or stars worked. It was not until the 20th Century when scientists learned about nuclear fusion that the true nature of the Sun (and stars) was revealed.
