Te Awamutu Space Centre is a museum and activity centre suitable for all ages. We love sharing our passion for space and astronomy but we're not just for space geeks! Most of our visitors arrive with no real interest in space but end up finding it more interesting and fun than they expected.
We open by appointment. You can see which times are available on the booking pages.
To avoid disappointment, please book in advance! Although you're welcome to visit any time we're open, if you don't have a booking, you may find that we're closed or fully booked.
You don't pay in advance, you pay when you get here.
Adults (18+): $12.00
Children (3–17): $8.00
Infants (0–2): Free
We take cash, Eftpos/Paywave, Mastercard, Visa, Google Pay and Apple Pay.
Sorry we cannot offer discounts; our prices are already as cheap as we can make them. Thanks for your understanding.
What to Expect
The heart of the space centre is the collection of artifacts and memorabilia, along with information displays about space and astronomy. There are many interactive displays, games, toys, puzzles, etc. Every customer gets one turn on the virtual reality. Occasionally we have telescope viewing.
School Field Trips
We are taking school visits again! However, we made some changes in 2023 so please make sure you understand the situation before you book. See information about school bookings.
Note: Homeschool and other education groups, please use the group booking form.
